Several
of the programs offered by the Jackson County Department on Aging could
not happen without the efforts of a group of dedicated volunteers. Volunteers
can serve as little as a couple of hours a month, once a week, or more
frequently. If you're looking for a way to keep active, plus help others
in the process, consider some of the volunteer opportunities listed below.

Opportunities
HOMES (HOUSEHOLD and OUTDOOR MAINTENANCE ESPECIALLY for SENIORS - - Conduct a home safety survey and/or perform basic safety-related repairs in seniors' homes.
MMAP - The Michigan Medicare Medicaid Assistance Program (MMAP) uses volunteers
to help people who have Medicare and Medicaid concerns, and provide information on how to shop for supplemental insurance
policies. MMAP volunteers are trained and work with an experienced
MMAP volunteer, before meeting one-on-one to answer questions from other
older adults.
Nutrition
Site and Senior Center Volunteers - Help with serving meals,
welcome new participants, assist with special programs.
Senior
Center Greeters - Welcome people as they arrive in the senior center. Let staff know when
a newcomer has arrived.
Senior
Craft Corner - Assist customers shopping in our craft sale area.
Tax
Volunteers - New volunteers mentor with an experienced volunteer. Volunteers are
needed February through April 15th, at two locations: Crouch Senior Center
and Boos Recreational Center.
