Several of the programs offered by the Jackson County Department on Aging could not happen without the efforts of a group of dedicated volunteers. Volunteers can serve as little as a couple of hours a month, once a week, or more frequently. If you're looking for a way to keep active, plus help others in the process, consider some of the volunteer opportunities listed below.

Volunteer Opportunities
HOMES (HOUSEHOLD and OUTDOOR MAINTENANCE ESPECIALLY for SENIORS - - Conduct a home safety survey and/or perform basic safety-related repairs in seniors' homes.

MMAP - The Michigan Medicare Medicaid Assistance Program (MMAP) uses volunteers to help people who have Medicare and Medicaid concerns, and provide information on how to shop for supplemental insurance policies. MMAP volunteers are trained and work with an experienced MMAP volunteer, before meeting one-on-one to answer questions from other older adults.

Nutrition Site and Senior Center Volunteers - Help with serving meals, welcome new participants, assist with special programs.

Senior Center Greeters - Welcome people as they arrive in the senior center. Let staff know when a newcomer has arrived.

Senior Craft Corner - Assist customers shopping in our craft sale area.

Tax Volunteers - New volunteers mentor with an experienced volunteer. Volunteers are needed February through April 15th, at two locations: Crouch Senior Center and Boos Recreational Center.
